Unity March
The Sardar@150 Unity March is a nationwide initiative honouring the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It symbolises his unparalleled role in unifying India, as part of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, it aligns with the mission of Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
Alongside the padyatra, developmental activities will be organised across districts, including cleanliness drives at water bodies, tree plantation under the “Sardar Upvan” initiative, women’s welfare camps, yoga and health camps, and “Vocal for Local” campaigns. These activities aim to mobilise citizens, celebrate local innovation, and channel youth energy into nation-building.
The Unity March 2025 follows a well-defined multi-stage structure, bringing together district mobilisations, and a national padyatra to honour Sardar Patel’s legacy.
In Our Freedom Movement
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel showed how unity turns resolve into results. A barrister with a clear sense of justice, he organised people with calm authority and clean methods. In Ahmedabad’s labour struggle, he stood for fair settlement and dignity of work. In Bardoli Satyagraha, he combined courage with meticulous planning and earned the trust to lead. As President of the Ahmedabad Municipal Board, he proved that discipline, sanitation, schools, roads, and sound finances are the everyday tools of nation-building. After Independence, Patel secured the very shape of India. As Unifier of the princely states, he brought over 560 princely states into one Union, preventing fragmentation and laying the ground for a stable Republic.
As Home Affairs minister, he prioritised peace, law and order, and the professionalisation of forces. In Administration, he championed the All-India Services—the “steel frame”—so every citizen could rely on an impartial, efficient state. As a constitutional visionary, he argued for federal balance, strong institutions, and duty-bound governance so unity would be sustained by structure, not sentiment alone.
Patel’s unity was also economic and social. Through his support for cooperatives, local businesses, and honest civic government, he connected self-sufficiency with shared prosperity. His message continues to be simple and challenging: character, responsibility, and cooperation- citizens who honor diversity, obey the law, and serve the last in line. The Unity March Padyatra on his 150th birth anniversary takes forward this legacy step by step. Walking hand in hand, we learn to put the nation first, connect disparate pieces, and make integrity a habit. Unity is not a once-in-a-while event but an everyday discipline at home, at work, and in public life.
